"Goldfish Salvation" – Riusuke Fukahori

When struggling with artistic vision, Fukahori's pet goldfish became his inspiration and ever since his passion and lifelong theme. His unique style of painting uses acrylic on clear resin which is poured into containers, resulting in a three-dimensional appearance and lifelike vitality.

This is just WOW. Just take a brief look and maybe you'll recognize some parts of yourself or your hobby in this video :). To me it's another reminder to stay open-minded and to try new things, as techniques but above all, that there a no rules or only those you you make yourself and get stuck in. Break Them, try something new!

Tyranids, Tyranids and more Tyranids!

Hey there painteholics,

Today I bring you some old stuff, some new stuff and a little wrap up regarding my beloved alien races - the Tyranids. While many members of our tyranid related forum warpshadow were in cryosleep for the last two years, more and more of them are hearing the signals of the hive mind again and start breeding.
So guys like Moloch, Hydra, Mr. Pink and others are more and more into Tyranids again and its time to look what their legacy is build of. Mr Pink also did a great article about the evolution of the tyranid model range since first edition. So here are a few links to educate newer Tyranid players about two of the most famous Hive Fleets in the web and show them some of the craziest conversion from these three artists.
So here are a few links definitively worth to check out:

Hive Fleet you should have seen:
Hive Fleet Moloch Part I
Hive Fleet Moloch Part II
Hive Fleet Hydra
Hive Fleet Fenrir

Evolution of the Alien. Tyranids since first edition until today:
1. Generation
2. Generation (1995)
3. Generation (2001)
4. Generation (2005)
5. Generation (2010 - current edition)
6. Generation (??? - What will be next?)

But thats not all I have for you today. I found a pretty cool Tyranid paint sheme in the web last night. Its from an artist called ThirdEyeNuke and I will link his flickr account later on. I love his sheme so much because its pretty simple to paint ( you mostly work with white primer, black, sepia ink and Tamiya Clear Red) and it looks so stunning, so realistic, so freak good that I had to show you this:

You can view his works and projects in his flickr portfolio. His stuff is also featured in Games Workshops "Whats new today" segment.

Boards and Wolves

Hi there!

I hope you had a greta day out in the sun. I start the summer with a small but nice Longboard session. Since 2010 the 'Tempelhofer' airport is closed for legitimate travel, and is now a huge public park direct in the cit of Berlin. The old runways are very big, and there is enough space for windsurfer, inlineskater, bycicles, other extreme sports, grill and chill areas, and of course for longboarding! It´s so much fun and was a nice day with friends. For a small boarding insparation, watch the nice movie with beautiful boardergirls from Spain ;

Carving the Mountains from Juan Rayos on Vimeo.

Two days ago i finished my 'Lonesome Space Wolve'. The finishing of this guy was very tough, but now the project is finished and i'm feeling very well with the result.

Games Workshop behind the scenes!

Hey there painteholics,

Today I come to you with a behind the scene video from Games Workshop. Pretty interesting to see where all the little plastic soldiers come from :P

Stefan Rath aka 'derwish' Painting Class in Munich

Hey folks!

After one hard week of work, i´m back in Berlin and now it´s time to write some words about the amazing painting class from Stefan Rath last weekend in Munich. I´m arrived one day before on thursday. Our blog member Markus 'Malekith' organized the location for the whole weekend, and also a one day before painting event. By the way, thank you Markus for your great organization and babysitting us all for the whole weekend!
The 'Vorabendmalen' evening for me, was more a meeting with other paintaholics and to much delicious bavarian beer - without any painting :)

On friday we started with a chilling BBQ session. We began with some small theory parts about colour contrasts, lightning and co, also Stefan gave us the workshop mini with a nice 'Bemalamatur'. The apparatus allows the painter to hold the mini under the feeds and over the head, without any contact to the miniature. It´s also possible to move the handle bar around the mini in any direction. It works very good, and the handling is amazing.

For the most of us it was new, to start painting the mini beginning with the eyes. We work from the inside to the outside. Stefan told us his way, to do some blendings. He has a totally diffrent style, it´s very 'clean' and properly. I like the style, but i don´t know how he can handle the tiny paint splashes on his small wet palett. :D

We did´nt stop the painting in the evening, and i think the last of us gone to bed after 4 o'clock in the morning.
After a short night we started on Saturday with some theory parts. But the main focus was on painting. Stefan tooks a lot of time to everybody, and talked with each of us what we can do better, whats good and he propose what is the best way for the future. Thanks Stefan for this intensive support to each of us! It was a long day again, with so much fun and a lot of happy painting.
On our last day, we spent the whole time to freehands. We got some plain banner and a second easy but genuis apparatus from Stefan, to paint the banner. A small round cardboard with some tape on it. With small parts of 'Patafix' you can fix the banner on it, and now it's easy to handle while ou paint it. He showed us his way to paint freehands. I think before the workshop, the most of us are afraid about freehands. But at the end of the painting class, there think better about it ;)

At first, thanks to Stefan! It was an amazing weekend. You showed me an other way to painting minis. And i like your way. Now it´s my turn to find my own style, and combine it with my previous knowledge. I want to suggest to everyone: GO TO THE PAINTING CLASS!
Thanks to Markus for your great organization. I hope we can paint soon again together with one or two Teggernseer ;)
And last but not least, thak to all for this great weekend in munich. I saw old friends, and met so much more new!

Paint trouble? Agitatorballs!

For you guys that think the shaking shaking bloody shaking of the vallejo drop pots is a bit boring there is a product that really help out mixing the stuff inside, called Agitator balls (or Agitatorkugeln in deeeutschland obviously...).
It’s Just some metal balls really and many other paint/spray products got these inside, and they make so much difference when shaking the bottles (yes, medium and pigment actually mix! Wow!)

I use them in all my Vallejo pots now, as the pigment in these paint are thick and sometimes really hard to mix (in comparison to GW paints for example, which is more like diluted coffee and in no need of this stuff... ;) )

You can get your balls at http://www.pk-pro.de/ direct link here

...just put a ball in there and shake it!

Probleme mit Farben? Agitatorkugeln!

By SkelettetS

Ihr könnt diese Kugeln hier bekommen http://www.pk-pro.de/ Direktlink here

...einfach eine Kugel hineinstecken und schütteln!

The Great Devourer is coming...

Aloah Painteholics,

I finally got my hands on the new tyranid boxes. I picked up 2 Tervigon and 2 Hive Tyrat Boxes today and had a great day in the hobby with all its nerdy aspects.  I managed to open a thread about my Hive Fleet in two german forums. Here are the links to Hive Fleet Daggoth on GW-Fanworld and Tabletopwelt. I also got contacted by the Tabletop Insider...we will see what the future brings :P

And here just for you I give you Katan in the Tyranid Fanboy Mode. Today I told my Girlfriend I would go nerding and thats exactly what i did xD (Tyranidish Greets to warpshadow.com)

And last but not least some cool pics I took while nerding today. Isn't that a nicely painted Space Marine?
